1) Mouth- Digestion starts here, the teeth have a good old chew and mix up food with saliva which contains with enzymes. This digests starch and glucose.
2) Gullet- Also called the Oesophagus, it links the mouth to the stomach
3) Stomach- Here the food mixes with enzymes which digests the proteins, there's hydrochloric acid to kill bacteria and give a low PH for the enzymes to work.
4) Small Intestines- The pancreas and the small intestines produce more enzymes to further digest proteins, carbohydrates and fats , food is always absorbed through the gut well into the blood which then takes it around the body to where it's needed.
5) Large Intestines- Here water is absorbed, we need it otherwise we would shrivel up !!!
6) Rectum- Food often contains cellulose (plants material which we can't digest), so it's stored as faeces. Here the digestive story ends when it pops out anus (bum).
